ATTENDANCE: Lessons are normally taken once a week. Some students come twice a week, and given the right circumstances twice a month can work though not recommended. It is preferable to have the same lesson time each week when possible. If you arrive late your lesson will most likely be short as I’ll often have another student or client following you. If I have time to run over I will.

PRACTICE REQUIREMENTS: Your commitment should match your goals, so whatever works is fine with me. The idea is to learn what you need to learn to get where you want to go: kids, ½ to 1 hour a day; adults should minimally try and practice one hour a day or more. As long as you are “winning” ½ hour a day can work if this is mainly a light hobby. The more focused your practice is the better, and my professional-oriented students commonly practice from 12 to 20 hours a week. We’ll discover what works as we proceed.

PRICES: Lessons are $60 an hour for adults and older teens; for under 16 they are $60 an hour and $35 per ½ hour. There is a 10% discount when paying two months (eight lessons) in advance for weekly lessons. When possible, it is advisable to pay for at least eight lessons at a time because it stabilizes your commitment as well as stabilizes me being here for you. You have goals to achieve and I can help you achieve them.

CANCELLATION POLICY: A lesson needs to be canceled 48 hours before the scheduled time to NOT be charged for it. If you cancel within this time frame the lesson will be charged. If I need to cancel a lesson at the last minute it will either be made-up at another time in the week or just rescheduled for the following week. Please don’t ask me to slide on this policy for any reason. (Music is fun, rewarding and wonderful, and business is business.)

PAYMENTS: Cash or check is the usual method. You can pay with a credit card through PayPal but that is not preferred and I cannot offer discounts with PayPal payments. Checks are payable to Marty Buttwinick. Also, you should have one lesson paid in advance to keep things simple. (In case the ATM is closed or you forget your checkbook.)
